Minister of Tourism SECRETARIAT OF STATE FOR TOURISM OF ARGENTINA
Gustavo Santos has a Literature degree from the National University of Córdoba, Master in Business Administration by Catholic University of Córdoba (UNC), Public Tourism Management Course and a Master in State Policies (UNC and Georgetown University). Mr. Santos had a long career in Córdoba (1985 to 2007). He was President of the Tourism Agency of Córdoba (2007 – 2015), member of INPROTUR Board and Vice President of the Federal Tourism Council. On December 2015, Mr. Santos assumed as Minister of Tourism. Mr. Santos served as Chairman of the UNWTO Program and Budget Committee (2016 – 2017), President (2018) and Vice President (2019) of the Executive Council and Vice President of the 23° General Assembly (2019). Mr. Santos has been awarded as Knight of the Order of Academic Palms (France - 1995), the OLLANTAY Award (Venezuela - 1991), the Popular Arts Award for Cultural Promotion and UNC Gender Poetry Award (1979). He was named as Knight and he received the Grand Cross of the Order of the Camino de Santiago (2017) and the Grand Cross of the National Order of the Southern Cruzeiro (Brazil - 2018).

In essence, tourism is a key element in the realization of a beautiful life for people – enhancing a quality of life that encompasses comfort, security, and happiness.

At this high-level session, leaders from the private and public sectors will discuss how tourism and leisure lead to a beautiful life, enhancing the lives of both the traveller and the local host community. What are the policies, strategies, and products that are optimizing tourism’s transformative force? How has the development and growth of diverse tourism markets, such as adventure, eco-tourism, sports, and wellness, affected the industry both regionally and globally? How are destinations and companies offering experiences that contribute to a beautiful life? What impact will technology and innovation have? How does culture play a role? And as more people cross international borders every day, how can tourism and leisure continue to fulfil their potential?
