Secretary of Sports BRAZIL
Décio dos Santos Brasil has been Secretary of Sport of Brazil since April 2019. An athlete since his youth, Mr. Décio Brasil is a former Army General who was Vice-President of the Army Sports Commission. He was responsible for the cooperation between Army Physical Training Center and Operational Planning Committee of 2011 Military World Games in Rio de Janeiro, and the Army’s sporting activities at major events hosted by Brazil between 2013 and 2016. He was also coordinator of the Army High Performance Athletes Program, and Army coordinator for the Olympic Legacy. Mr. Décio Brasil studied at the Military Academy of Agulhas Negras(AMAN) and graduated in Physical Education at the Physical Education School of the Army. He also holds a master’s degree and a PhD’s degree in Military Sciences, and postgraduate degree in Politics, Strategy and Senior Management in the Army. In 2000, he studied Sports Administration at the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

With the demand for authentic experiences on the rise, adventure and sports activities can diversify tourism offerings and increase a destination’s competitiveness. Looking at different facets of these markets from a wide geographical perspective, speakers will address how adventure and sports are changing the way people travel and their potential for synergies. How do these three markets complement each other? How have sports events and mega-events affected the global tourism industry? In what ways have adventure and sports offerings at destinations impact the traveller consumer experience? Finally, how can adventure, sports, and tourism help destinations tackle seasonality, boost infrastructure,and reinforce their brands?
