CLEMENTE CONTESTABILE

Consul General of Italy in Hong Kong
Clemente Contestabile has been the Consul General of Italy in Hong Kong since 15 August 2018. He joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Italy in December 2001, successively worked in Department for Asia and Oceania and in the Secretariat-General of MFA. Between 2006 and 2010, he was assigned to the Embassy of Italy in Beijing, initially as Head of Consular Chancery and then as Deputy Head of Commercial Office. From 2010 to 2014, Mr. Contestabile worked for the Permanent Mission of Italy at the United Nations, dealing with development, environment and financial affairs and taking part in negotiations of UN General Assembly, the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) and their subsidiary bodies. He was subsequently Chief of Staff to the Permanent Representative. From 2014 to 2018, he was Head of Secretariat of Department for Human Resources, Budget and Innovation of the MFA. Mr. Contestabile completed a Master’s degree in Political Science – International Relations at The Sapienza University of Rome in 2000.
